Key Responsibilities:
Configure and maintain system, application, and network elements of key AOL EU web properties
Drive quality and stability in our products to achieve 100% site reliability
Learn, shape, and share our technical standards and operational best practices
Cooperate with software engineers, quality assurance, and product design to create world-class products
Develop subject matter expertise in the technologies we operate
Develop, extend and maintain tools and systems to automate maintenance and monitoring of our systems
Desired Skills for this
Position:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science/Computer Engineering or equivalent experience
At least three years experience administering a major distribution of Linux in a production environment
At least two years administering, configuring, and troubleshooting Apache and Tomcat or Resin in a production environment
Experience troubleshooting custom applications written in at least one of the following: Java, C, Perl, PHP
Excellent customer service skills, including written and verbal communications under pressure
Strong understanding of web and application servers
Strong understanding of networking, web server load balancing, and DNS
Exposure to large scale production environments with hundreds to thousands of hosts
An understanding of the Web as both an industry and as a cultural influence
System, Application, and Network tuning for web performance and host security
Experience with being part of an on-call rotation as part of a 24x7 operations team
